![]() I had my skis serviced in the shop which were done overnight and ready for 8am the next day. Free to use if you rent skis from the shop. The chalet is located at the bottom of a steep hill so the ski lockers are a must. Towels weren’t changed on the cleaning day but if we had asked for new towels then I’m sure they would’ve accommodated our request. There wasn’t any tea making facilities left out during the day, which would’ve been helpful for a lady that got injured and had to return to the chalet. I enjoyed all of the dinners but other members of our group didn’t, but I guess that’s just personal preference. I didn’t enjoy breakfast much, the only hot options were eggs and porridge. They were happy to tell you how much you owed each night so you didn’t have a shock at the end of the week. The bar was cheap and well stocked but only took cash at the end of the week. Iona took us for ski touring and was incredibly professional patient with all members of the group. The chalet hosts were fabulous and made an effort to get to know everyone’s names. We visited for New Year’s Eve week and I enjoyed staying in this chalet very much. Top tip for chalet staff night off - Gasteiner Wirtshaus is a fabulous restaurant which is 5 mins walk away and has some great locally sourced cuisine. Bad Gastein and its adjoining ski areas (reached by very efficient buses) are really great to ski and I would thoroughly recommend this resort to intermediate skiers. If Salzburg is that chaotic each week an earlier transfer time may be needed. With the massive security queue we only just made it through to get straight on to a bus to board our flight. ![]() Reading the review for the previous week it was also irritating for us that we were also sent to the wrong terminal and not told about the separate Tui ski check in. Ski guiding was ok but the expresso group was massive and it would have been a good idea to stop promoting the fast and slow option as everyone was a similar standard so two equal size groups would have worked. It is a shame that Port and coffee has stopped being offered at dinner, the fire was sometimes missing until one of the guests mentioned it and the weekly quiz has disappeared from the schedule. The advertising does make it very clear the bar is public but it was a bit odd with lots of young seasonaires having 'fun' in the open plan lounge/bar whilst canape service was taking place, I'm not sure if it would be a good chalet if you are travelling with younger children. The food was wholesome, the chalet was comfortable and the staff were friendly and efficient, special shout out to Iona for just being so helpful and happy. Chalet Tannenburg is in lovely Bad Gastein which is quite hilly to walk around so the ski locker is a definite necessity (included if you hire skis through Ski Miquel). Overall we had another great holiday with Ski Miquel. Wednesday is the night off- we took the chair lift to the belle alm for fondue which we recommend but booking ahead is necessary and the Felsentherme spa is worth a trip, discount is available if you book 3 trips at once.… We had a few beginners and a child so we didn’t join the ski guiding this year but the other guests seemed to really enjoy it and only had good things to say about the guides and the trips to sportGastein and dorfgastein. Idan, Iona, Rebecca and Tom were very friendly, helpful and generally pleasant to be around each day. Paolo was also lovely to chat to over cake after a long day skiing. The chef Paulo and his assistant chef made fantastic meals all week and really went out of their way to make good delicious food for our daughter which she was able to have earlier as waiting until 8pm would have been too long for her. ![]() ![]() We had a fantastic week and really enjoy the relaxed chalet-hotel model Ski Miquel make the most of (this was our fifth stay in a Ski Miquel chalet). We have just returned from a week at the chalet-hotel Tannenburg in Bad Gastein.
